Search engine optimisation is not a single product you can buy by the kilo. It is five crafts, technical, on-page, content, link earning and local, practised in a particular order and never in isolation. When an agency sells you "SEO" as a flat monthly fee with no mention of which of the five they are doing this month, they are usually doing the cheapest one. We have ranked more than sixty websites since 2010, across clinics, jewellery, industrial hardware and finance, and the pattern never changes: the businesses that win are the ones that fix the foundation before they chase the headline.
The three questions every page must answer
Before we touch a keyword, we ask three things of every page. Can it be found?, meaning Google can crawl, render and index it without tripping over a redirect chain or a JavaScript wall. Is it useful?, meaning a real person searching for this leaves satisfied, not hunting for a back button. Is it trustworthy?, meaning the schema, the author, the reviews and the citations all line up. Get those three right and rankings are a by-product. Skip any one of them and no amount of link building will save you.
The order matters more than the tactics
People love tactics because tactics feel like progress. But a clever title tag on a page that takes four seconds to load is lipstick on a limp. We work in sequence: first the technical build and Core Web Vitals, then on-page structure, then content depth, then earned links, then the local layer. The five pillars above describe each in detail; what they don't show is how often we stop a client from spending on the fifth thing before the first is fixed.
What actually moves the needle, in our experience
- Indexability first. We have seen a single mis-set canonical hide a third of a site from Google. Fixing it added more traffic than a year of blogging would have.
- Speed as a ranking and revenue lever. Faster pages index sooner, rank higher and convert better. See our note on Core Web Vitals in 2026.
- Depth over frequency. One reference page that ranks for three years beats ten posts that rank for three weeks.
- Local proximity. For a clinic or a studio, the three-result local pack is the whole game, read how we win it honestly.
What changed in 2026, and what didn't
AI Overviews, generative search and the traditional ten blue links all draw from the same well: useful, fast, well-structured pages with proper schema and earned authority. The audience reading our output grew; our job did not change. The table below is the honest version of the conversation we have with every new client.
SEO in 2026, what shifted, and our response
| Signal | What changed | How we respond |
| AI Overviews | Answers summarised above the links | Structured, entity-rich answers Google can quote |
| E-E-A-T | Experience & trust weighted harder | Named authors, real reviews, honest citations |
| Helpful-content | Thin, AI-spun pages demoted | Human-written, edited by someone who knows the field |
| Core Web Vitals | INP replaced FID as a metric | Sub-200ms interaction, measured monthly |
| Bought links | Devalued and penalised faster | We never use them, earned links only |
Notice the last row. The single most common reason a business comes to us is to clean up after an agency that bought links. Recovery is possible, but it is slower and more expensive than building it right the first time. We would rather you spent that money once.
Key takeaways
- SEO is five crafts in sequence, technical, on-page, content, links, local.
- Fix indexability and speed before you spend a rupee on content or links.
- AI search rewards the same fundamentals: useful, fast, trustworthy pages.
- Earned links last; bought links are a liability waiting for the next update.
How is SEO different from Google Ads?
Ads are a candle, light for as long as you keep paying. SEO is a fire that warms the room for years after the work is done. We run paid media alongside SEO when speed matters, but the asset we are building is the organic one.
Do you work in regulated industries?
Yes, clinics under DHA in Dubai and CQC/GMC in the UK, lending under RBI in India, elder care and more. Compliance is built into the content and the schema, not bolted on afterwards.
Can you take over from our previous agency?
Often. We begin with a "what did they do?" audit of the backlink profile, content and technical state, disavow anything toxic, and rebuild. You can also commission that 42-point audit on its own.
